What is The Detroit Partnership?
The Detroit Partnership (DP) is a student-run service learning organization at the University of Michigan. We are dedicated to uniting the Ann Arbor and Detroit community by partnering and coordinating programs with schools and community organizations in two dynamic communities of Detroit: Brightmoor in Northwest Detroit, and Southwest Detroit. Through these partnerships we coordinate both one-time and weekly service learning opportunities for our member base of over 1000.
What is the mission of The Detroit Partnership?
The Detroit Partnership exists to unite the University of Michigan and greater community with the Detroit community, to create lasting change, and to maintain fulfilling partnerships by addressing social issues surrounding Detroit through active service learning.

When is DP Day 2006?
DP Day 2006 is set for March 31 2006.
Where does DP organize service learning programs?
Our programs are located in both Brightmoor (Northwest Detroit) and Southwest Detroit.
What type of service learning programs does The Detroit Partnership organize?
Everything! Some of the programs we are involved with include: tutoring, mentoring, renovating, painting, teaching English as a Second Language, and landscaping. Keep checking our website for updates on new program opportunities!
Who can participate?
Everyone is welcome! UofM students, non-UofM students, UofM faculty or staff, community members, or anyone else who is interested in volunteering is welcome to sign up for projects. All projects are open to you once you register online.
How often do I have to participate in order to be considered a DP member?
You are considered a member of the DP if you have participated in any of our programs. Although we do not require a certain level of commitment, we encourage our member to remain as active as possible throughout the semester. Check the calendar of events regularly to see what programs and events we have going on!
How do I sign up for programs?
To become a member visit "Get Involved." Here you can register to be an official member of The Detroit Partnership, and from this link you can also sign up for our programs. Everyone is invited: U of M Students, Non-U of M Students, Faculty, Staff, and Community Members!
How can I get more involved with DP Planning?
The DP is run by a Planning Team composed of UM students. Planning Team applications for the following academic year are available in early April. You get more involved, and gain leadership skills by applying to be a DP Day site leader. Applications are available in February.
Are there any costs?
There are NO costs associated with The Detroit Partnership for participants!
How time consuming are these projects?
Project lengths vary, depending on the type of project. Most projects will take at least 3.5 hours including travel time - check the project description for each project for exact times.
