Get Involved Home The Detroit Partnership Mission Statement:
We The Detroit Partnership seek to unite the University of Michigan and Detroit through fulfilling community partnerships. Our service-learning programs strive to address social issues, raise awareness and break stereotypes about Detroit. As a member of The Detroit Partnership you are given the opportunity to learn about the City of Detroit, and build relationships with community members through tutoring and mentoring students, working on abandoned lots, tree planting, painting murals, voter registration drives, and much more!

There are many ways in which you can get involved.

Our weekly programs are available for those who would like to make a stronger commitment to service learning. We offer weekly programs Monday-Saturday, so you are sure to find something to fit your schedule. One-time programs are great for everyone, but especially for those who are unable to make a weekly commitment, yet are still interested in service learning and Detroit.

The DP is also committed to raising awareness on social issues pertaining to Detroit throughout campus. We sponsor education events such as lectures, film viewings, discussions and more throughout the semester.

We also recognize the important of collaborating with other student groups on campus, and encourage other groups to participate in DP programs in Detroit in order to gain an understanding and experience the charm of the city. Visit Student Group Involvement for more information.

The DP is also especially well known for our two major events. In the fall we organize a Food and Clothing Drive. Our culminating event of the year, DP Day, is held each spring. This event is a celebration of our relationships with partner organizations in the City of Detroit. This huge day of service learning involves over 1000 UM students and community members.
