The Planning Team

Join the Planning Team If you're interested in furthering your commitment to The Detroit Partnership, consider applying for the DP planning team!

The planning team is a group of approximately 45 individuals who are devoted to coordinating service-learning opportunities in Detroit for U of M students. We exist to cultivate positive relationships with Detroit organizations, break down stereotypes, discourage apathy towards social justice issues, and foster opportunities for meaningful reflection on service work.

Currently, our responsibilities are delegated between 7 sub-teams: Major Events, External, Education, Finance, Youth Programs, Brightmoor and Southwest. More information about the roles and responsibilities of each team can be found on our planning team application.

Being a member of the planning team is a significant time commitment, and we seek applicants who will take this commitment seriously. All members are expected to attend weekly meetings (typically Wednesdays at 8:30 pm), as well as attend separate sub-team meetings and fulfill their respective weekly tasks.

However, the planning team is also a lot of fun! As a PT member you will have plenty of opportunities to partake in exciting and meaningful service work. If you are deeply passionate about Detroit and social justice issues, we sincerely encourage you to apply!

Typically, we begin our application process after DP day in mid-April. Applicants are required to submit an application form, and attend an interview. Applications will be posted on our website, and interview signups are located on the front door of The Detroit Partnership office, on the 4th floor of the Michigan Union. If you have questions about applying, don't hesitate to email us at: thedp@umich.edu
